Central Texas may be lacking in true autumn weather but that doesn’t stop Leander and its neighboring towns from coming alive with the spirit of fall. October is a month filled with festivals, markets, music, and family-friendly gatherings that bring the community together in celebration of the season. From pumpkin patches to chili cook-offs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

A Weekend of Music and Tradition

Come catch Randy Collier and Grassland at Leander’s 20th Annual Bluegrass & Folk Festival

The month kicks off with the 20th Annual Bluegrass & Folk Festival at The Mason Homestead on October 3–4. This beloved event is a true celebration of community, where families gather to enjoy toe-tapping bluegrass, local food vendors, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Leander so special. It’s the perfect way to start the season—surrounded by music, laughter, and neighbors.

Skating Into Fall Fun

On Saturday, October 4, The Skate Gym and Barryhill Garden Center are teaming up for a one-of-a-kind Fall Festival. The Skate Gym will open its doors for a special $10 open skate, complete with ramps and rails in the parking lot for those eager to show off their skills. Meanwhile, Barryhill Garden Center will host games, prizes, and delicious food from 10 AM to 3 PM. It’s a day designed for families, friends, and anyone ready to embrace the joy of fall.

Markets, Art, and Creativity

The following day, October 5, Devine Lake Park will host the Big Dreams Market, a showcase of handmade goods, local flavors, and community creativity. Later in the month, on October 11, Lakewood Park will transform into a hub of imagination with the Children’s Entrepreneur Market and Artoberfest. Young entrepreneurs will display their talents while local artists, live music, and whimsical fairy houses add to the festive atmosphere.

Family-Friendly Festivals

October 11 also brings Pumpkin Palooza at Good News in Cedar Park, where families can enjoy yard games, a petting zoo, and free treats like popcorn and cotton candy. The fun continues on October 12 with the Band of the Hills Fall Festival at Lakeline Park, filling the afternoon with live music and community spirit.

For those looking for the perfect pumpkin, the Pumpkin Patch at Good News runs from September 29 through October 31 in Cedar Park, offering plenty of photo opportunities and a chance to support local outreach efforts. And of course, the Texas Pumpkin Fest in Leander runs every weekend in October, featuring live music, rides, a charming train for kids, and endless pumpkin patch fun.

Other Fall Experiences

October 18 is a day packed with variety. History lovers can step back in time at the Spirits of Bagdad cemetery tour, where storytelling and reenactments bring the past to life. At Lakewood Park, the Leander Diwali Festival will celebrate the Festival of Lights with food, music, and cultural festivities.

Dog lovers won’t want to miss Barktober Fest at Nameless Saloon, complete with a dog costume contest, adoptions, and live music.

For something sweet, Michelle’s Patisserie in Liberty Hill will host a magical Wizards & Wands Tea Party, with a special Witches Night Out Candlelight Tea later in the month.

Halloween Highlights

As Halloween approaches, the celebrations grow even more festive. The fun kicks off on October 23, at Frontier Bank’s Boo Bash. On October 24, All Ways Grooming in Leander will host the Bone Appetite Trunk-or-Treat for Dogs, a night of costumed pups and treats. The next day, October 25, families can head to The Crossover in Cedar Park for a Halloween Skate with DJ Paul Secrest, complete with a costume contest and on-ice games.

On October 26, Good News in Cedar Park will host a community Trunk or Treat, offering a safe and fun environment for kids to collect candy and show off their costumes. And on October 30, the HCCC Gameroom Spooky Party will bring double the fun with two parties in one night—one in Liberty Hill and one in Cedar Park—featuring free cocktails, food, and support for CASA of Williamson County.

Halloween Crafting

If you’re looking for a creative outlet, Spinning Wheel is offering two different events to capture the Halloween spirit. Choose from ceramic mug making with a Halloween design, available on multiple dates, or a kid-friendly pumpkin carving class on October 26th.

Looking Ahead to November

The fall fun doesn’t stop in October. On November 8, the 16th Annual Chili Cook-Off at Texas Humane Heroes will bring together chili lovers for a day of tastings, live music, face painting, and a silent auction—all in support of animals in need.

A Season to Remember

Fall in Leander is more than just a season—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and connection. From the laughter of children at pumpkin patches to the warmth of neighbors gathered around live music and chili, these events capture the heart of what makes this area so special.
